During the Student Forum 2025 in Skopje, youth civil society organizations from North Macedonia, Kosovo, Serbia, and Albania came together to sign a Joint Declaration, calling for the full implementation of diploma recognition across the Western Balkans.
The Declaration urges WB6 governments to uphold the commitments made under the Berlin Process, including the 2019 Declaration on Recognition of Higher Education Qualifications and the 2024 Agreement on Admission to Higher Education. Despite these agreements, young people in the region still face unnecessary barriers when seeking to study or work across borders.
This joint initiative is a symbolic yet strategic step, one that aims to evolve into a broader regional advocacy effort. It reflects a shared belief: youth mobility, academic fairness, and mutual recognition are not privileges, but rights.
